ACI-UOB Student Chapter wins the 2018 Outstanding University Award
For the second year in a row, the University of Balamand receives high recognition from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) for outstanding student activities. The ACI award for University Student Activities identifies universities that are qualified for Outstanding status based on points received for their participation in selected ACI-related activities and programs.
The ACI – UOB Student Chapter is the only chapter of its kind in the region. It was initiated in 2016 by a group of highly motivated civil engineering students with advisor being Dr. Nariman Khalil. Throughout the academic year, the student chapter has been an active part of the student life at the faculty of engineering organizing workshops, site visits, seminars, and social gatherings while taking part of local and global ACI competitions.
Acting Dean of Engineering, Dr. Elie Karam, congratulated the student chapter for their achievements commending the efforts of their advisor and the chapter executive board members. He stressed that student societies and their activities are integral parts of the faculty and university community.
